Criteria for Admission to the Central Teacher Eligibility Test in 2022
The CTET test is given in two levels: CTET Level-I is for candidates who want to become teachers for classes 1 through 5, and CTET Level-II is for candidates who want to become teachers for classes 6 to 8.
Eligibility for Level I of the CTET (Class 1-5)
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with a minimum of 50 % and completion or enrollment in the final year of a two-year Diploma in Primary Education (by whatever name known) OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passing or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) as per the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations, 2002 OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed), OR Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education), OR Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed), OR Senior Secondary
Graduation with a minimum of 50 % and a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed)
Who has acquired the qualification or Bachelor of Education from any NCTE-recognized institution shall be considered for appointment as a teacher in classes I through V, provided that the person so appointed as a teacher must complete a six-month Bridge Course in Elementary Education recognised by the NCTE within two years of such appointment”
Eligibility for Level II of the CTET (Class 6-8)
Graduation and passing or being in the last year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (under any name) OR
Graduation with at least 50% marks and passing or attempting a 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), OR
Graduation with at least 45% and passing or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), according to the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard. OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed), OR Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or in the final year of a 4-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or BA Ed/B Sc Ed, OR Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or in the final year of a 4-year B.El.Ed.
Graduation with at least 50% and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education) OR Any candidate who has completed a B.Ed. programmes recognised by the NCTE are eligible to take the TET/CTET. Also, according to the current TET guidelines, which were sent out in a letter on February 11, 2011, anyone taking any of the teacher education courses listed in the NCTE Notification from August 23, 2010, that are recognised by the NCTE or the RCI is also qualified to take the TET/CTET.
Eligibility Age for the CTET
If you are interested in taking the CTET, you must be at least 17 years old, but there is no higher age limit.
Exam Pattern for the CTET 2022
The CTET will include multiple-choice questions (also known as MCQs), each of which will have four possible answers, one of which will be the correct response. Each carrying a single mark, with no deductions for improper answers allowed.
