Fishtopher the cat finds forever home after his adoption listing went viral

A 5-year-old cat named Fishtopher was reportedly "sad and miserable" while waiting to be adopted at the Homeward Bound Pet Adoption Center in New Jersey.

The facility noted in its Petfinder listing that the "Quiet" "Couch potato" appeared "out of sorts." Only when there was company would he eat, and he "wouldn't even look up for pictures."

But on Thanksgiving, Fishtopher's fortune altered as a result of a widely shared tweet about his Petfinder profile.

The post rapidly received 21,000 retweets and over 168,000 likes. In the comments, many people related their own experiences adopting cats.

The shelter reported receiving "hundreds of queries" about Fishtopher over the weekend in a Facebook post.

On Saturday, Fishtopher was given a forever home by Laura Folts, 22, and Tanner Callahan, 24, their partner.
