Lionel Messi, Argentina's captain and seven-time Ballon d'Or winner, became the first player to score in all knockout stages of the FIFA World Cup.

At the Lusail Stadium, the 35-year-old scored Argentina's first penalty. With this goal, Messi has scored in the group stage,

round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals, and final of the FIFA World Cup

After Ousmane Dembele fouled Angel Di Maria, Messi scored a penalty to beat Lloris.

Messi scored Argentina's first goal against Australia in the round of 16 with a beautiful shot in the bottom-left corner to beat Matt Ryan.

In the quarterfinal against the Netherlands, he scored a penalty. Messi's penalty kick beat Andries Noppert.
