Red Lobster Reimagines its Biscuits

Red Lobster knows everyone likes Cheddar Bay Biscuits. You'd expect Red Lobster's most popular dish to be lobster.

However, when someone says "Let's go to Red Lobster," the first thing they think of is the Cheddar Bay Biscuits.

The multi-national restaurant chain's Cheddar Bay Biscuits were not always warm, crumbly, and soft. In 1968, Red Lobster had no biscuits.

20 years later, the seafood business needed a new product to replace their underselling hushpuppies.

The culinary crew experimented with Texas-style toast before deciding on biscuits. Garlic and cheddar cheese replaced sugar in the biscuit.

The Cheddar Bay Biscuit, originally called "hot cheese garlic bread," was intended to be a hit. You can buy biscuit mix for your cupboard or try one of various imitation recipes.
